研究LEGO在教育中的角色。
A Lego professorship is to be created at Cambridge University.
The role is being established within the Faculty of Education to "support research in the field of play in education, development, and learning in the University".
It is funded by the Lego Foundation, the research arm of the plastic block-building toy company.
The General Board, in their Report on the Establishment of Certain Professorships, published in the Cambridge University Reporter yesterday, recommended the establishment of a Lego Professorship of Play in Education, Development and Learning from the start of the next academic year.
The successful applicant will also be a director of a new Cambridge research centre, which will investigate the role of play in education.
In their report, the General Board said: "The Professorship will be funded by a benefaction of £2.5m from the Lego Foundation as an endowment to be held on trust by the University.
"The Lego Foundation has also provided funding to support a Research Centre on Play in Education, Development, and Learning (PEDaL) to which the LEGO Professor will be appointed Director."
The Lego Foundation aims to "build a future where learning through play empowers children to become creative, engaged, life-long learners".
